What is the REP?

Extended Producer Responsibility (REP) is a key tool of the circular economy that redefines the link between producers and the goods they place on the market, making them physically, financially or legally responsible for their collection, treatment and final disposal. Types of REP laws:

Mandatory REP: required by law that companies manage their waste, under penalty sancations.

Voluntary REP: adopted by own decision, in anticipation of regulation and motivated by reputation and environmental commitment.

Individual REP: implies that each company exclusively manages the waste of its own products.

Collective REP: consists of several companies in the same sector coming together to manage waste together.
